Love For Louie

Somewhat spontaneously, D and I had dinner at Bottega Louie last Saturday evening. I say spontaneously because I have been blabbing about wanting to go to this place for a couple of weeks. So, on Saturday morning, the hubster said he was taking me for dinner once he came home from work.

The restaurant is located on the ground floor of the beautiful Brockman Building (1912-according to wikipedia) on 7th and Grand in Downtown L.A..  The architecture is gorgeous as is the interior design of the restaurant/bakery. It has super high ceilings with moldings and it is all painted white. When I was younger, I didn't really appreciate white paint too much, especially when I was in my "all-must-be-black" phase. It just seemed so bland and boring. Like anything, white paint works if properly used and combined in a space. Don't get me wrong, black is still one of my favorite colors. I am talking about designing a space...I'm rambling...on to the food.

What we ordered:
To start, we ordered the Brussels Sprouts and Pistachios. The lightning bolt shaped bread and butter is complementary.

D ordered the Pork Chop

I ordered the Short Ribs Brasato

And for dessert, we shared the Butterscotch Budino, which obviously didn't last long enough to photograph.

On the way out I grabbed a box of 4 macarons for the folks to sample. The flavors I selected were Rose, Earl Grey, Tangerine and the Grand Macaron.

Everything was excellent, including the service. We left the place with full bellies and smiles on our faces. We will definitely be returning. I hear the macarons were tasty too!

Check out the lovely photos on their blog here.
