I was saddened last weekend to find out that the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas is now closed. D and I stayed there twice (visit 1, visit 2) and we have great memories at this little "Jewel of the Desert." It was the last of the "Rat Pack" hotels. It is so sad to see a place with so much history go. Is it just me, or does it appear like other countries do more to preserve their historical locations?

One thing that cheered us up, besides our three day weekend, was our trip to Philippe's, a restaurant with lots of history. D and I sampled the roast beef french dipped sandwich, potato salad and tomato bisque. YUMMERS. Of course I forgot my camera, but there are cool photos to peruse on Yelp.
