Prince: Welcome2America

The husband and I went out on a date! We went to see Prince at the Forum in Inglewood on Saturday (May 14, 2011). It has certainly been a while since we get to play dress-up and go out.We had a good time, though I wish Prince would have played more of his hits from the 80's. We so badly wanted to hear more of those. We both have good memories of the 80's and music really takes you back to those times. Too bad we couldn't see him in concert back then. I, for one, was much too young. I mean, I was like 4 years old when Purple Rain was released. One thing I have always focused on while watching him play is his shoes. I can't help but look at them. Obviously he is always wearing either high heels or platforms but the man does moves in those shoes that would put the average man or woman in the hospital. Maybe I'm just generalizing, but I, for one, could not do what he does in high heels. Ever.

I was a little bummed that the crowd was a little blah in their choice of concert attire. I am not speaking for everyone there, but I expected to see more people dressed up like 80's Prince fans. Or maybe that was just me. I still like to dress up for concerts. I did the big hair (lots of hair spray), heavy purple and black eye makeup complete with huge eyelashes and purple rhinstones glued under one eye, faux snake skin stretch pants (I've been waiting for an occasion to wear these) with black boots and an 80's ish sweater...I should have taken a picture.

Sheila E....Kicked major butt!

Here are some songs he played at the show as well as some songs I wished he would have played and artists I wish he would have had along with Sheila E.

By the way, I love the Set List website. It never really occurred to me in the past to look up the set lists of past concerts I have attended, since my memory isn't always the greatest. Reading them actually jars my memory and I can remember more of the shows I've seen in the past. I just may have to go back and update the previous concert related posts I have written about on this blog and add the set lists just for my own amusement and future recollection.
